site www.liberazione.it Johannesburg. We wanted the event on the African continent because the annual meeting of Communist Parties around the world is truly internationalize. Born in Europe in 1998 on the initiative of the KKE greek, after several years of meeting all the old continent, the Meeting begun to touch other parts of the world, from Eastern Europe to the Middle East, arriving in Sao Paulo, Brazil, New Delhi and landed so, finally, on the African continent.
and expectations are not disappointed at all go for the 103 delegates of 51 parties represented from 43 countries on all continents, the meeting this year was held December 3 to 5 in Tshwane (Pretoria) in South Africa. For Italy this was the Communist Refoundation and the PDCI. And it's frankly hard to tell what the African style and strength of the South African Communist Party (SACP), which hosted the meeting, has infected everyone present. Who imagined a ritual event, full of formalism and perhaps a bit 'boring, it had definitely think again.
The power of music and dance from the African , have been plagued everyone present that, before listening to the introductory report of the Secretary of the SACP (Blade Nzimande, now Minister of the Government of the University Zuma) were able to attend a musical performance with songs of struggle of the apartheid era. South Africa looks to the future, but the wounds are still all alive on the skin of a population that, precisely in 2010, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formal decolonization, but that still is a victim of forms dangerous projects of foreign domination and interference of the military (Africom).
The meeting was, as always , an opportunity for Communist parties to meet and discuss, to review the activities carried out last year and outline the guidelines of the future joint work. But this year, this has been framed as a side activity for the mobilization and knowledge of the country. This has required a significant initiative in solidarity with Cuba and the liberation of the Five, the presence of a large delegation of Cubans living in South Africa, but also visit the famous township, where people live the country's poorest and where, historically, had been ghettoized black people during apartheid.
Exciting free that all international delegations have resulted in Soweto, famous township located near Johannesburg, who gave birth to Mandela and where there was the famous student uprising, which wanted to impose the Afrikaners in their schools, violently repressed in blood.
the SACP, the party that next year will celebrate its 90th anniversary and that has an important role in governing the country, wanted to include the organization of this meeting, inside a packed agenda of activities at the international as the First Forum of the leftist forces of the African continent and the Second African Conference for Participation in Democracy (August 2010), the Congress of the Communist Youth and the 17th edition of the World Festival of Youth and Students, in a few days , draw in South Africa hundreds of thousands of young people from all across the globe, for an event that, even now, promises to be memorable.
Of particular significance is the fact that the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, has wanted to bring his greetings to the work of the Meeting, before leaving for Cuba, to meet with Raul Castro and the development of a dense series of political and economic relations. No wonder: the human toll that Cuba has led the fight for independence and anti-colonial struggle in Africa is enormous and is still very much alive in the minds of people. In fact, rather than a greeting, Zuma held a real conversation over an hour, which has long stressed the similarities between the struggle of the Communists for a world of peace and social justice, with efforts by his government in the African context.
In a changing world and in which the so-called "emerging economies" such as weight gain ever had during their history, is the second-priority Zuma-protect national interests against acts of interference and new forms of colonialism, political and military.
But this horn of the struggle to , represented by the continuation of a historic and long-lasting anti-imperialist and anti-colonial struggle, to be linked to a process of social transformation, attention to vulnerable population groups and liberal revolution of society
lla , to erase the legacies of the past and give it over to a real democratic revolution in the country.
as is necessary to underline the radical positions of Zuma, throughout the course of the intervention, it is quite unusual for a head of state, but is evidence of how the ANC, under pressure from Communist and trade union Cosatu (which just recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a gigantic event) has suffered a sharp turn at positions the left, shifting the balance of the country on a ground very advanced and very interesting, given the geopolitical and economic developments of the beginning of this century.
The central theme of the meeting was the analysis of the international economic crisis and, as the title of the conference, "his aggravation and the identification of the tasks of the communists in defense of national sovereignty, development of alliances social and reinforcement of anti-imperialist front in the struggle for peace, progress and socialism. " On this
focused interventions of all participants who have not failed, however, to explain what was happening in their country, informing them of the activities and future campaigns and mobilizations. The analysis on the economic crisis was also the subject of a meeting organized in Brazil and India, but here you have entered more specifically, bringing the debate to end. And this challenging analytical work is seen even by the final statement (available on the web www.solidnet.org ), Which undoubtedly represents a valuable step forward in the development and research among the parties. Work is not easy given the disparity in political, cultural and even geographical between all participants.
I the 12th International Meeting of Communist Parties was, in some respects, a lens on a changing world, with all its contradictions and expectations. It certainly has helped us in Europe, to look at things from a different perspective and be aware that the world is much bigger and full of contradictions as we see from our vantage point now decadent and in crisis.
The major events in the world one another are scoring significantly starting this new century. And the protagonist of the peoples and countries, so far only been exploited and colonized by Western powers, can only be an element of emancipation and liberation for all. Even for us.
